BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Jack in the Box customer's call to police foiled an attempted armed robbery on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The incident happened at the fast food chain, located in the 500 block of South Illinois Street, just before 9:30 p.m.
A patron reportedly called police after noticing that employees were being forced into a back room.
Officers made a stealth entry into the building, according to police, then located employees being held at gunpoint by a female suspect. Police say the woman was ordered to drop the weapon, and she was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities say the woman fits the description of a previous armed robbery at O'Reilly Auto Parts in Belleville. Her information was also forwarded to O'Fallon, Ill. police in regards to another armed robbery in that area.
No employees were injured in the incident, according to police.
The female suspect remains in custody pending an investigation and formal charges.
