Police ID St. Louis County man shot, killed with assault rifle

Police are searching for a suspect after a 20-year-old man was shot to death while sitting inside a vehicle in the Kingsway East Neighborhood in north St. Louis late Monday night.

(KMOV) – Police have identified a 20-year-old Berkeley man who was shot to death while sitting inside a vehicle in the Kingsway East neighborhood in north St. Louis late Monday night.

According to police, Desmond Holiday and four other men were sitting inside a vehicle in the 4800 block of Hammett Pl. around 9:50 p.m. when a red sedan pulled up.

Police say someone inside the sedan then opened fire with an assault rifle, hitting Holiday in the chest and forearm.

Officers were called to the scene and found Holiday lying in the street unconscious. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The four other occupants, ages 17 to 19, were not hurt.

Police have not released any details on a possible suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
