EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- Authorities have identified the man whose body was found earlier this month in the Mississippi River near East St. Louis.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Jordian McIntyre, 22, of Collinsville apparently jumped into the river September 9th from the Eads Bridge.
Barge workers found McIntyre’s body two days later just downriver.
It isn’t immediately clear why McIntyre jumped into the river.
Floore says they initially thought a woman had jumped because a backpack with a woman’s identification was found along the bridge. But Floore says detectives soon found the owner of that backpack alive and determined her bag had been stolen.
