Police identify ferry victim pulled from Mississippi river in St. Louis County

(KMOV) – Authorities have confirmed that a body found floating in the Mississippi River near St. Louis is that of a woman who fell from a ferry last week.

According to officials, the remains were discovered by a barge worker near the intersection of Interstate 270 and Riverview around 8:15 a.m on Monday. 

Investigators believe Lynn Watson, 66, died of accidental causes. no safety issues were discovered aboard the boat. 

The barge worker saw Watson's body in the middle of the channel and kept it from floating away until firefighters arrived to retrieve it.

Watson went overboard on the Golden Eagle Ferry on Friday. The ferry links St. Charles County, Mo., and Calhoun County, Ill. 

Additional details were not immediately available.
