GODFREY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police say a man had marijuana on him when he trespassed onto the property of a Metro-East Schnuck’s grocery store late Friday night.

Officials with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded around 12 a.m. to a Schnuck’s store in the 2710 block of Godfrey Road to investigate an unwanted person.

According to police, a clear plastic bag containing marijuana was found on 26-year-old Michael Mars.

Police said officers seized the evidence and Mars was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal trespass.

Authorities said Mars had already banned from entering the particular Schnuck’s location due to a previous retail arrest.

Mars was transported to the Madison County Jail, where he’s being held on a $200 cash bond.
