(KMOV) -- A St. Clair, Missouri man faces charges after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home in Franklin County and terrorized her with a gun early Tuesday morning.

Michael Murphy, 39, was charged with robbery.

Authorities say Murphy entered through a rear door of a home in the 4000 block of N. Virginia Mines Road around 2:17 a.m.

Deputies say Murphy walked into the victim’s bedroom, held a handgun to her head and demanded money. The victim told police Murphy pulled the gun’s trigger several times, but the gun did not fire.

Murphy then allegedly took cash next to the victim’s bed and ran out the back door toward White Acres before deputies arrived.

Deputies searched the area for Murphy but could not find him. The victim told officers she is familiar with the Murphy, who remains at large.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 636-583-2560. Callers can remain anonymous.

Murphy’s bond was set at $250,000.
