(KMOV) – Police were investigating after four people were shot in north St. Louis County following an altercation at an apartment on Tuesday.

Police said two people got into an argument at the Medelaine Manor Apartment complex near the intersection of Natural Bridge and McKibbon in Berkeley around 2 p.m. when they opened fire on one another.

Both people were struck along with two other victims who arrived with one of the shooting subjects.

Two men and a woman left the scene in a vehicle and attempted to drive themselves to a nearby hospital.

Police stopped their vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near the Boeing facility at James S. McDonnell and Scudder and called for several ambulances.

According to News 4's Russell Kinsaul, the vehicle's windshield was riddled with bullet holes at the scene.

A fourth victim was found lying on the pavement at the apartment complex.

All four were tranported to an area hospital where one victim later died from their injuries. The three other victims are still listed in serious condition.

The cause of the shooting was unclear.

Additional details were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
