MADISON, Ill. (KMOV) – Police were searching in north St. Louis for three suspects who robbed a credit union in Madison, Illinois on Friday.

Police said three men – two of them armed - robbed the Granite City Steel Credit Union at the intersection of Third Street and McCambridge Avenue about 1:15 p.m.

They then fled the building with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the suspects were last seen on foot near the intersection of Salisbury and 14th Street in north St. Louis.

Several police officers had their guns drawn as they looked for the suspects. K-9 units were helping police in their search.

St. Louis Public Schools spokesman Patrick Wallace said the principal of Clay Elementary School heard about the chase ending near the school and called for additional security as a precaution. No suspect was ever seen, according to Wallace.
