(KMOV) -- As city school enrollment continues to shrink, plans are emerging to build a new school in the Tower Grove neighborhood that’s home to a large portion of the St. Louis Public School District’s young students.

The Tower Grove area has St. Louis’ highest percentage of pre-school and school-aged children. But building the school would mean closing Mann Elementary and demolishing architectural marvel Shenandoah Elementary.

And while building the new $17.6 million school in Tower Grove East is one plan, another plan would be to renovate and add-on to Shenandoah Elementary

Whatever is decided will be funded with $150 million in voter approved bonds.

The plans will be discussed during a series of public forums over the next few days.
