FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A Dominos Pizza
delivery driver escaped injury after he was robbed while on a delivery to an apartment building in Florissant, Missouri Tuesday.
According to reports, the incident happened at a building in the 700 block of Mescalero Court.
The victim told police the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, approached him in a hallway and demanded money. The suspect took the pizza pouch and cash bag from the driver and fled on foot.
The suspect was described to police as a black male with a medium build, 5'10", 150 pounds, wearing a dark blue hoody and blue jeans. The suspect was also wearing a black mask and black tennis shoes.
This incident comes just days after an Imo's Pizza delivery driver was shot and killed while on a delivery in the north St. Louis County neighborhood of Hillsdale.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call authorities.
Nancy Hightshoe, a safety expert, suggests delivery drivers call the person that requested the delivery and ask them to turn on a light before approaching the house.
Hightshoe recommends a plan that was installed in Dayton, Ohio when 17 delivery drivers were robbed in 2010. Officers taught prevention techniques to restaurant managers and drivers and city officials passed out a list of vacant houses and suspicious phone numbers to workers. Officers also posed as delivery drivers to catch suspects.
