KMOV) – Authorities have identified two young boys who were killed in a blaze that swept though a home in Berkeley Monday morning.
Authorities say 3-year-old Isaiah Towns and 4-year-old Stephen Towns Jr. were found dead after firefighters responded to the 8200 block of Airport Rd. around 5:30 a.m. and found a small-frame home engulfed in flames.
Authorities say the boys were found inside the dead-bolted front door.
Police said the father and mother, Stephen and Cheronna Towns, got out through a bedroom window with their 4-month-old daughter, Deja Towns.
All three were injured. Police have not released specific details but said the Stephen Towns’ critical injuries were most severe, partly because he tried to go back into save his other children. Cheronna Towns was listed as being in serious condition following a surgery Monday evening.
All three suffered burns and smoke inhalation, though the infant was doing better, Williams said.
Several space heaters were found inside the home, and officials say they may have contributed to the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
The house was gutted. Heat from the fire was so intense that siding melted on the home next door, McCall said.
