COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police in Collinsville, Illinois have a person of interest in custody in reference to two armed robberies on Thursday night and Friday morning.

On Thursday, police said man walked into the Farm Fresh store in the 700 block of Vandalia Street in Collinsville around 9:20 p.m. and demanded money. According to reports, the suspect also displayed a weapon. The man fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.

On Friday, a similar type of robbery happened at the Moto Mart station across the street from the Farm Fresh store around 3 a.m. The suspect again displayed a handgun and ran away with cash. In this case, the suspect got into a dark-colored, full size pick-up truck. Witnesses said the truck did not have a tailgate.  The truck had a chrome bumper and a broken window covered by a green tarp.

In both robberies, the suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s wearing a blue, white and black hooded sweatshirt. He was also armed with a handgun and was wearing a mask to conceal his face. The suspect was further described as being approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build, weighing approximately 160 to 170 pounds.
