(KMOV.com) – Firefighters said 51-year-old Joseph Adams was struck by lightning in Maryland Heights Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said Adams was biking southbound on the Maryland Heights Expressway when he was struck by lightning in the head near intersection with Casino Center Drive. Authorities said the lightning strike occurred around  5:20 p.m.

Emergency crews said they found Adams in cardiac arrest and unresponsive. Firefighters said drivers pulled over and gave him CPR, which may have saved his life. Paramedics were able to revive him on the way to hospital.
