(KMOV) – A man doing lawn maintenance at a church was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 94 in northern St. Charles County Thursday morning.
According to authorities, a woman was driving on the southbound lanes of the highway near Church Rd. when she lost control of her vehicle and hit an embankment.
Officials said the vehicle flipped several times and struck the victim who was cutting the lawn of a nearby church. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials said Highway 94 was shut down in both directions while crews worked to clear the scene. There was no timetable on when it would reopen.
