Prosecutors charged Laura Pauley and Shawn McGrath with endangering the life of a child. On July 23, their son, Ryan McGrath, drowned in retention Pond in Wood River, Illinois.
Police said Ryan was out with three other children who were all under the age of 13.
The misdemeanor carries a penalty of two to five years of probation.
