(KMOV) – SkyZoom 4 was over the scene as one person was taken into custody after their vehicle slammed into a north St. Louis City house Thursday evening.
Police say the accident happened on the 4900 block of Penrose near Kingshighway in the Penrose Park area shortly after 5 p.m.
According to a lieutenant with the St. Louis Police Department, the accident happened after the driver lost consciousness and blacked out.
When authorities arrived to the scene of the accident, the 27-year-old driver was unresponsive to officers’ commands. SkyZoom 4 was over the scene when three officers then pulled their weapons on the man who they say leaned toward his back pocket.
Medics on scene say the man was not under the influence of alcohol and no drugs were found in the vehicle.
A child was inside the vehicle at the time of the collision but she did not suffer any injuries. She was reported unrestrained in the backseat vehicle.
News 4 later learned this was not the first time the man has blacked out behind the wheel, according to his girlfriend.
Police also say the driver wasn’t supposed to be driving as his license was revoked.
He was cited for driving with a revoked license and for the child not being in a restraint seat.
