(KMOV) – Police reclassified an incident  they originally reported as a fatal accident  - they are now calling the death of a 35-year-old Herculaneum man a homicide.

According to police, Phillip Galcyzynski’s was shot in the head and was found in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Hampton in south St. Louis shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 5.

Officers say the car he was driving crashed into a retaining wall in the parking lot. After the victim’s relatives were notified, his body was taken to the Medical Examiner, who determined that there was a bullet lodged in Phillip Galcyzynski’s head.

Investigators believe he was shot shortly before his Chevy S-10 pickup truck crashed into the wall.

Police have not made any arrests, and have not released any information about any possible suspect(s).
