(KMOV) –Police continue to search for two men who are accused of being behind more than 50 car break-ins and were involved in a pursuit Monday
The chase started in St. Ann after a blue Nissan was reported by a victim who had their car broken into in Bridgeton police say.
The suspect’s stolen car was spotted in St. Ann by authorities when a chase ensued.
The pursuit ended around 11:20 a.m. in North St. Louis at Marcus and Carter when the Nissan crashed into another car, injured the driver.
St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez said an officer got his hands on one of the men in the Nissan after the crash, but the two inside the car were able to get away.
“They don’t care. We don’t know who they are for sure right now, but they don’t care about anybody’s lives or property,” said Chief Jimenez.
Authorities say evidence was found inside the car to help find the pair who lead them on the chase, and link them to the car break-ins.
In recent weeks, Jimenez said the two men who escaped the crash Monday have used the stolen Nissan to break into 50 to 100 cars in North County. Several stolen purses and IDs were located inside the Nissan.
St. Ann, Bridgeton and St. Louis police were all aiding in the search.
