(KMOV.com) –  A noisy chemical plant in Granite City is driving residents nuts.

Residents said the noise from the Air Products plant on Monroe Street started on Saturday and has been non-stop and can be heard inside homes.

“I have to turn my TV all the way up to hear the TV," John Bailey tells News 4.

Bailey’s neighbor, Terry Perrin, put a video of the noisy plant on You Tube.

"When you got to get up in the morning and you got not sleep - it's dangerous to fall asleep at work, and I drive a truck," Perrin said over the loud noise outside his home.

A spokesman for Air Products, based in Pennsylvania, offered apologies to residents, and says the noise is temporary. It’s part of a process to clear the lines of the plant from any moisture, and should be completed by Friday.

Granite City Mayor Ed Hagnauer said he’s talking with the company about possible changes that could implement to minimize the noise in the future.
