HARRISBURG, Ill. (AP) -- No services are planned for a retired coal miner who died last week of injuries sustained three months earlier when a tornado blew through a section of the southern Illinois town of Harrisburg.

R. Blaine Mauney was 74 when he became the eighth victim to die of injuries from the Feb. 29 twister. According to authorities, Mauney had been in several hospitals since the tornado that injured about 100 other people.

Mauney was a grandfather who retired in 1991 from the Eagle No. 2 coal mine in Shawneetown.

G. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is handling Mauney's arrangements. His obituary says Mauney's body was to be cremated as he had requested, and that there will be no services.
