(KMOV)—An associated press study learned that Missouri gave a record amount of job creation tax credits for businesses in 2011.

The newly released statistics show the state gave $80 million dollars in tax breaks for 57 projects.

Those projects are planning to create more than 6,400 new jobs within the next few years.

The state only allows the tax break once the jobs are created.

Five years of data collected show that businesses only created 38% of the jobs anticipated.
