(KMOV.com) - By July 30, a Colorado-based grocery store chain plans to open its first St. Louis area store in Ellisville.
Renovations have begun inside the store at the Fountain Plaza shopping center near the intersection of Clayton Road and Clarkson Road. Crews are making changes to what used to be the old Straub's location to reflect the new market's focus on natural and organic foods.
Store Director Joshua Lydick said the store will carry organic and natural foods, along with traditional groceries.
Lucky's Market opened its first store in Boulder, Co. and has since expanded into Ohio, Montana, Kentucky, and Missouri. Its first Missouri store is already open in Columbia. Lucky's Market is also planning to open a third Missouri location in Rock Hill in late 2014 or early 2015.
The nonunion company says it plans to hire 120 to 140 new employees for the Ellisville store. 65 to 70 of those positions will be fulltime, said Lydick.
"You don't have to have grocery experience to work for us, but as long as you're passionate, as long as you love food and you love people, we welcome you to come and talk to us," said Lydick about the hiring process - which starts next week.
