(KMOV) – Police identify man struck and killed by driver in Fenton on Tuesday.

According to police, Matthew Griesheimer, 35, of Fenton, was hit near the intersection of Hwy. 141 at Gravois just before 1 p.m.

According to police, Griesheimer was trying to cross 141 heading east. A man was driving southbound in a pickup truck pulling a utility trailer, heading through the intersection while the light was green.

Witnesses told police it appeared Griesheimer waited for the pickup to pass and then continued walking, not realizing the truck was pulling a trailer.

Griesheimer was struck by the trailer, and was taken to St. Anthony's where he was later pronounced dead.

Williams Thomas, the driver of the pickup truck, was not injured in the accident.

Police say they don't believe the driver was negligent.
