(KMOV.com) -- Authorities have issued charges against the man accused of killing one person and injuring another in a double shooting at an apartment near downtown St. Louis late Wednesday night.
The Circuit Attorney's Office issued charges against Rico Combs, 25, for first-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary , seven counts of armed criminal action and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities said Combs forced his way into an apartment where his three children lived in the 1300 block of North 7th Street around 11:30 p.m.
Police said he opened fired on two men inside. One victim, John Gorman, 27, was struck in the head and torso. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
The other victim, a 25-year-old man, was in critical condition after suffering wounds to the jaw and abdomen.
Authorities said Combs then pistol whipped the mother of his children - ages 3, 5 and 7 - who were all home at the time. The mother was hospitalized with facial injuries.
Police did not give a motive for the shooting.
According to St. Louis Police, Rico Combs was taken into police custody Thursday evening after a short foot pursuit. He was captured on the 2800 block of Victor by the Metro Police Intelligence Unit.
Further details into the investigation were not immediatly known
