A St. Louis County woman is facing involuntary manslaughter charges in the morphine overdose death of her 19-month-old son.
Prenise Payne, 22, was charged Saturday with first-degree involuntary manslaughter.
According to police, Payne’s son, Jace Echoles, was found unresponsive on Dec. 2 at her home in the 12070 block of Rosemist Dr.
The child was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy later revealed Echoles had been given a fatal dose of morphine.
Payce was arrested Friday
She remains jailed on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
