(KMOV) – A man and a woman from New Mexico face charges after police say hundreds of pounds of marijuana were found in their vehicle during a traffic stop in O’Fallon, Mo. on Saturday.

Matthew Serrano, 38, and Vista Scott, 23, were both charged with second-degree accessory trafficking drugs or attempting to traffic.

According to police, an officer with the O’Fallon Police Department stopped the suspects for a moving violation near the intersection of Winghaven and White Hawk around 3:50 p.m.

Police say the suspect noticed a strong odor of marijuana and got consent to search the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle and found nine bundles of marijuana weighing more than 200 pounds.

Police seized the drugs and took Serrano and Scott into custody, where they each remain on a $100,000 bond.
