(KMOV) --  More people have told police they have had a sexual relationship with a Lindenwood University athlete charged with knowingly spreading HIV.

Police said four more people had come to police on Friday saying they had sex with Michael Johnson.

Johnson, 22, was charged Thursday with recklessly risking infection of another when infected with HIV, a felony that carries up to 30 years in prison.

The first alleged victim contacted the St. Charles Police Department in May after he believed he had been infected with HIV by Johnson, who he met through social media.

Johnson, a member of the Lindenwood University wrestling team, was told he was HIV-positive in January and knew of the virus before engaging in sexual activity with the victim but did not disclose it to him.

St. Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar said Johnson and the victim had sex at least twice in the wrestler’s Lindenwood dorm room earlier this year. At that time, the victim contracted the HIV virus.

Police said they did not know if the four new potential victims had HIV.

The St. Charles Police Department is also requesting that any other individuals who may have been in an intimate relationship with Johnson to contact the Detective Bureau at (636) 949-3320.
