ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – With thousands going to polls on Tuesday in St. Louis County, the county's police chief says officers will be watching for any mischief.

St. Louis County chief Tim Fitch says the county wants to ensure that residents can perform their patriotic duty in complete safety. As a result, additional patrols will be out on Tuesday watching over polling places.

“We have not had many problems in recent years,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch. “Most participants have kept their focus on their right to vote. During all elections, we want our citizens to be assured that they can perform their patriotic duty in a safe manner.”

Polls in Missouri will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
