FLORISSANT—St. Louis firefighter Robert Riuck is looking for more firefighters to participate in the “Guns ‘n Hoses” Golf Tournament on Friday morning to raise funds for partially paralyzed Florissant police officer Mike Vernon.

Vernon, 33, was shot on May 28 after responding to a burglary.  The shooting left Vernon permanently paralyzed from the waist down.

Local firefighters are “taking on” local police officers to raise money for Vernon in a “Guns ‘n Hoses” golf event.  There will also be a silent auction to help raise funds for Vernon’s recovery.

The tournament starts 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Golf Club of Florissant on Country Club Lane.  Any interested firefighter is asked to call (314) 486-8928.  Anyone is invited to stop by, even if you can’t play.
