ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation has released an updated schedule to its construction on the double-decker I-64 project in downtown St. Louis.
MoDOT will close all lanes and ramps on eastbound I-64 downtown between Jefferson and the Poplar Street Bridge on the double deck structure, starting at 8 p.m. Friday.
Delays on I-64 can be expected during the following schedule:
- One eastbound lane and the 14th Street and 6th Street ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
- A second eastbound and the 11th Street ramp will reopen by 2 p.m. Monday.
- Two eastbound I-64 lanes on the Poplar Street Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 12 p.m. Sunday.
- The eastbound I-70 ramp to the Poplar Street Bridge will be closed Saturday from 12:01 a.m. until 2 p.m. as crews work overhead on eastbound I-64.
As a detour, officials said drivers should get on eastbound I-44 from Jefferson Avenue. Drivers can also take the MLK, Eads, McKinley, Chain of Rocks or Jefferson Barracks bridges to avoid delays.
MoDOT has scheduled three more weekend closures to complete its work on I-64. Officials said they will schedule their work to avoid interfering with Cardinals games during the postseason.
The dates for future weekend work not yet been determined. All temporary barriers on the double-deck structure is scheduled to be removed by November 1.
