(KMOV) – The big snow storm also comes with a big price tag for the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Road crews worked long shifts clearing show and that meant a lot of overtime pay. MoDOT tells News 4; so far they’ve spent $30 million this season out of a budget of $42 million.
Local cities and counties are still totaling up their costs.
In St. Louis, city officials say despite the costs, they will not cut back on snow removal.
"At the end of the day this will cost a lot of money it will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for just this that's more than we've spent in entire winters the street department will overspend its budget and have to buy more salt,” said Jeff Rainford, Chief of Staff for Mayor Slay’s office.
