FESTUS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The St. Louis County Police Department is searching for a 62-year-old Missouri woman who has not been seen for about a week.

Police said Betty J. Gathing went missing October 9 while driving home from visiting family in Mississippi. The day she was last seen, Gathing told family members she was staying at the Drury Inn in Festus.

She checked out of the hotel on October 9 and has not been seen or heard from since.

According to family, Gathing suffers from schizophrenia and is bi-polar. She takes medication to offset the symptoms of her conditions.

Gathing is described as a black woman, 5-feet 6-inch tall and approximately 200 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. She drives a red, 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo with Missouri plates “WB5T9H.”
