(KMOV) – A Missouri House appropriations committee has proposed trimming $65 million to boost funding for colleges and universities.

Some politicians say the cuts would eliminate a $28 million Medicaid program for the blind, and trimming approximately $12 million from subsidized child care.

Governor Jay Nixon has pledged to fight the cuts.
