(KMOV) – The St. Louis area got a little love on Sunday when Missouri native Col. Michael Hopkins decided to take a photo from the International Space Station:

According to Hopkins’ bio on NASA’s website, he was born in Lebanon and grew up on a farm outside Richland.
He graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree from the University of Illinois in 1991. He was also a captain of the Illinois football team.
Hopkins, who became a NASA astronaut in 2009, departed for the International Space Station in September. He’s scheduled to return to Earth in March.
