(KMOV.com) -- In a letter released Wednesday, Mehlville Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost explained district will accept student transfers from the unaccredited Riverview Gardens district.

Knost says students with safe school violations will not be accepted.

The superintendent plans to meet with each family who has a student transferring to Mehlville.

Students must apply to transfer by August 1.

In his letter Knost said district leaders are looking at space available in their schools but says class sizes will not increase.

The superintendent plans to give an update on the student transfer process at the next board meeting on July 25.
