(KMOV.com) - A gun range under construction in Ballwin is drawing criticism from some residents because it will located near a park.
Doug Palmer told News 4 he doesn’t think putting the range across the street from Vlassis Park is a good idea.
"I'm not against guns but what I am against is building a gun range next to park where children play," Palmer said.
Some residents told News 4 they are not opposed to range’s locations.
Ballwin Mayor Tim Pogue tells News 4 the city approved the range last year after holding four public hearings with very little or no opposition.
Pogue says the range will be underground and surrounded by 8 inches of concrete. Pogue also said there’s was no effort to keep this from residents, since the hearings were advertised in the newspaper and with a notice posted at the site.
