(KMOV) -- A man is in custody  after a stand off turned into a manhunt in St. Louis County.

It started several hours ago in Wildwood, Missouri. Police were called to a home around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday for reports of a disturbance.

Authoritie said when they arrived, James Hardy, II, 33, came out of the house with a rifle in his hand. That's when police fired shots at Hardy. Hardy did not return fire.

At one point, Hardy was holed up in the house. Authorities said Hardy fled into a nearby wooded area.

Police searched for Hardy overnight and eventually stopped the vehicle he was in at the intersection of 100 and 109.  Hardy was a passenger of the car and was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m. Friday without incident.

A rifle was found and seized at Hardy’s home.
