Man with HIV charged with biting O’Fallon police officer

(KMOV) -- An O’Fallon, Missouri man who is HIV positive, was arrested after allegedly biting a police officer.
The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. on Monday in the 900 block of Green Briar Hills Drive.
Police say that an officer was attempting to arrest Willie Bishop, 20, at his home when Bishop took off running.
The O’Fallon police officer chased Bishop and caught him.
As the officer was making the arrest, Bishop allegedly punched the officer in the eye and bit him in the back, causing a break in the skin.
Police say Bishop then ran back into his home. He was arrested later without incident.
The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
Investigators discovered that Bishop is HIV positive. He has been charged with recklessly and knowingly risking infection of another with HIV, assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
Bishop is being held on $25,000 bond.
