COLLINSVILLE, Il. (KMOV) -- An Ohio man says a Collinsville police officer violated his civil rights after he allegedly pulled him over for no apparent reason, then fabricated a reason to search his car.

Terrance Huff said he was on his way back to Ohio after visiting the Star Trek exhibit at the Science Center in December when he believes he was profiled by Officer Michael Reichert.

In a YouTube video, the officer is recorded asking for permission to search Huff's vehicle.  Huff says the drug dog called to the scene was encouraged to find drugs in the car when there were not any drugs to be found.

Huff is suing for unreasonable search and seizure, false arrest and claims the city condones the behavior of the officer.  He is also asking for damages.

Collinsville police officials have not returned any messages.
