LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A man was hospitalized after he hit a metal sign while water-skiing Sunday morning at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Police say Benjamin Bens, 24, of Bettendorf, Iowa was riding the wake behind a 2013 Nautique boat.

When he reached mile marker 18 in the Anderson Hollow Cove, Bens struck a six-feet-by-nine-feet metal sign while traveling about 23 miles per hour.

Jesse Daniel, 53, of Rogers, Arkansas was behind the wheel of the boat.

Bens was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.
