(KMOV) – A 35-year-old man faces involuntary manslaughter and assault charges after allegedly running over a man during a fight on Tuesday in Cuba, Missouri.

Witnesses told police that Michael Adams, 51, was killed after being run over during an argument that started via text message between two other men.

Dustin Carter, 35, and Bobby Wood, 39, were arguing via text message when witnesses say several people went with Carter to watch him fight with Wood.

After arriving at Wood’s residence, Carter began to fight with several people and then ran back to Adams' vehicle.  One of the witnesses said Wood began chasing after Carter in a white Suzuki vehicle.

According to police, Wood was circling Adams’ vehicle when he clipped Adams as he was trying to run over people.  Adams tried pulling himself up from the ground by holding onto the front of his truck.

As Wood continued circling the vehicle, Carter jumped into the driver’s seat and tried ramming Adams' vehicle into Wood’s vehicle.  Witnesses say they think Carter did not see Adams in front of the truck when he ran over him.

Police say witnesses put Adams into his vehicle before he was run over again.

Another witness told police he saw Carter run over Adams and spin him out from the back tires.
