(KMOV)-- A man is dead after being hit by a car in Pontoon Beach, Illinois Thursday evening.
According to Madison County Coroner Stephan P. Nonn, 21-year-old Terell A. Grant, of Edwardsville, was running westbound in the 4200 block of Horseshoe Lake Road when he jumped into the lane of traffic and into the path of a westbound 2003 Cadillac Seville. It was raining at the time and the pavement was wet along the unlit section of roadway. Grant was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered from head trauma.
Nonn said Grant had been in a vehicle found parked in front of 4200 Horseshoe Lake Road prior to the incident. Another occupant of that vehicle was transported to Gateway Regional Medical Center for a medical condition that did not arise from the crash.
Toxicological testing will be performed to determine the presence of alcohol or drugs. The Pontoon Beach Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
Funeral arrangements are pending, but are under the direction of Officer Funeral Home of East St. Louis, Illinois.
