Man charged with fleeing on bike after robbing O’Fallon, Ill. bank

O’FALLON, Ill. – Charges have been filed against a man accused of robbing an O’Fallon, Ill. credit union, pedaling away from the heist riding a bicycle.

William Restoff was charged Monday with aggravated robbery, a felony. He remains in custody on a $250,000 bond.

According to police, Restoff on Wednesday walked into Scott Credit Union in the 700 block of W. Highway 50 around 3:15 p.m.

Police say he handed the teller a note and flashed what appeared to be a gun. He was handed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.

Authorities say he officers spotted Restoff riding a bicycle about 10 blocks away from the credit union. Police say they found incriminating evidence and took Restoff into custody without incident.
