ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police have charged a man accused of beating a woman before leading officers on a chase in the victim’s vehicle in St. Louis County on Saturday.
Bradley Cowan, 21, was charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
According to police, Cowen was arguing with his girlfriend at her Olivette apartment Saturday afternoon when he beat her.
Police said Cowen dropped the victim at her workplace. That’s when co-workers noticed she was badly injured and called for an ambulance. The victim was taken to an area hospital and has since been released.
Authorities said Cowen was returning to his girlfriend’s apartment when he saw Olivette police cars. He then reportedly fled from police in the victim’s car.
A short pursuit ended in the 7900 block of Page Avenue around 4:30 p.m. after the suspect crashed, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Cowen was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
