(KMOV) – A 23-year-old man is accused of shooting at another man’s vehicle in north St. Louis County after they had gotten into a fight over a girl they dated.

Eric Rogers was charged Tuesday with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

According to police, Rogers was chasing a 32-year-old driver down New Halls Ferry near Wedgewood when he grabbed his handgun and shot out his driver’s side window.

A bullet struck and shattered the victim’s passenger side window.

Authorities responded to the scene and arrested Rogers near his home after spotting him run through his neighbors’ backyards.

His gun was found in his vehicle.

Police later learned Rogers knew the victim and had been in a fight with him over a girl they both used to date.
