Man charged for robbing two teens at gunpoint in downtown St. Louis

Rodney Rankins, 46, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of first-degree attempted robbery after police say he robbed two teens in downtown St. Louis.

(KMOV.com) – One of two suspects arrested for an armed robbery in downtown St. Louis is facing multiple charges.

Rodney Rankins, 46, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of first-degree attempted robbery.

Police say Rankins and another man robbed three people near the intersection of 13th and Linden around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

The victims, both 18, told authorities they were walking along Linden when a 2000 Hyundai Accent passed them and stopped a short distance away. They said a man exited the car and demanded the their property. The suspect reportedly had a pistol.

A short time later, officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle near the intersection of Taylor and St. Ferdinand. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Rodney Rankins. The second suspect has not yet been charged.

According to police, stolen items were also seized from the vehicle.
