ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A suspect who was shot after he allegedly attacked a St. Louis County police officer earlier this month has been charged.

Jerome Taylor, 23, was charged Thursday with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and distribution and sale of a controlled substance.

According to police, officers received a call around 2:15 p.m. about a suspicious person in the 10300 block of Lilac Avenue. According to the call, a black male dressed in all black was seen looking into homes.

When an officer arrived on scene, he tried to take Taylor into custody. That’s when Taylor produced a hidden loaded 9 mm handgun and pointed it at the officer.

The officer, who had his weapon drawn, then shot Taylor in the torso. Taylor was treated at a local hospital and remains at the St. Louis County jail on $250,000 bond.
