ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- An employee of the St. Louis Department of Corrections is dead after he was driving at a high rate of speed and hit a tree Monday morning in north St. Louis.
Police say the accident happened on Kingshighway near St. Louis Avenue around 7:50 a.m. Investigators said Dareon Williams, 25, was driving too fast when he slightly hit another vehicle and ran into a tree. Williams was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
