CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- A California man is accused of being high on methamphetamine when he caused a wreck in Missouri that killed a suburban St. Louis teenager.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Dale Kawamura, 36, of Oakland, California, is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault in the Feb. 21 accident that killed Clayton Pfeiffer, 18. The teen was a freshman at Missouri Baptist University and a member of the school's baseball team.
Authorities are seeking to extradite Kawamura to Missouri to face charges. Court documents allege that blood tests showed Kawamura was impaired by meth.
