(KMOV) – Police have arrested a man they believe may be responsible for several air conditioning unit thefts in Maplewood.

Carlos Lusk, 35, was charged with stealing, attempted stealing and resisting a lawful stop, all felonies.

According to police, an officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in the back of a vacant home in the 7700 block of Weaver on Feb. 11.

Police said when the officer pulled up to the vehicle backed in the driveway, the driver immediately fled, hitting the officer’s car.

Police said they have been watching the area due to a rash of air conditioning thefts over the past several weeks.

Authorities said an investigation led them to Lusk, who was arrested on Wednesday.
